My husband and I just purchased a new (old) home in downtown Petaluma. It was built in 1860 and is filled with handmade details that only an old home can possess. The photo above was taken the day after we bought it–we’ve been working on the inside and plan to fix and paint the outside in a month or so.
We plan to transform the look of the outside by painting the siding a subtle off white. The trim will be bright white–and the doors, windows, railings and gingerbread will be a glossy black. We’ll throw some metallic gold details in there too.
Right after we moved in, I started searching for vintage pieces to complement the vintage feel of the house–without making it feel stuffy like so many Victorian homes I see.
I found the hutch above at an antique store in town and immediately fell in love with it. I love the crackly paint, how rustic it is, knew it would look perfect in the kitchen.
Looks cute with the Buddha too.
